Laundry

What I like about laundry days:

  • The fresh smell of my laundry detergent
  • The knowledge that my clothes are now 99.9% cleaner than when they were sitting in my laundry basket
  • The way I neatly organise them from shorts to long, on the laundry bar makes me happy
  • When I flake dry the pieces of clothing before putting them on a hanger, it makes me feel that I am shaking off all the bad stress

What I don't like about laundry days:

And your landord disallows cooking for this exact reason. Just wait for it.

When your landlord fries fish in the kitchen(!!) and doesn't ask/tell you to collect your clothes so now all the above reasons become invalid.

I am super annoyed because my clothes smell worse than before I washed them.

I, Me, My, Mine

Someone brought up today that I always refer to things by exclaiming that "It's mine", "I....", "My...", which makes others think that I am trying to show off, or that I am being cocky - trying to set myself above others.

I thought about it, agreed with the assessment and rationalised that, "Yes, I shouldn't keep using I, Me, My, Mine's in my conversations, whether casually or professionally." After all, it's not (always) about me.

But another part of me knows that I make a lot of reference to myself because I have a strong sense of ownership towards the things I do, and that I can only represent myself and not others.

So, is it really that bad for me to keep sprouting I, Me, My, Mine's  as I go on with life?

I don't know. I am not sure anymore.

Life Lessons

I had an interesting and insightful dinner with a good friend - good in this sense is to describe this friend of mine who really has a good and kind heart.

1. Have an "off switch" - Know when to switch off.

2. Remember your "angry cup" - Know when your angry cup is mid filled and walk away from the situation before your cup overflows.

3. Always admit (or at least reflect) on your own fault first. In other words, always be humble and don't allow your ego and emotions to get the better of you.

I find myself in the position of having to accommodate others, and I don't like it. But I guess that's what you do for family.

Reminder to self: Family before self.

Why Do I Listen To So Much KPop?

I've been listening to Eddy Kim's When The Night Falls all day long. And when I say all day long, I mean all day long.

In order to stop listening to them for awhile, I am going to share one from this other band that I adore because they are so cute and their songs are addictive!

B1A4 - Rollin

My mirror has a #rollin' hastag to remind myself to just roll with the flow in life sometimes. I'm so defensive that I make my own life more difficult than it needs to be.

As to why I listen to so much k-pop, I don't have an answer. Y'know, they say love is blind.

Flower Way

Sejeong - Flower Way

I love, love, love this song.

Also, there is this one drama that I am completely addicted to right now - Temperature of Love.

Hook, line, sinker.

You'll Always Wish For Something Different

I wish that is where I am right now. Hot chocolate on standby, reading a book, and it's snowing outside.

But at that time, I was probably wishing to be somewhere warm, with a nice cushioned chair so that my bum wouldn't be so cold and sore.

The funny thing about life - we often wish to be where we are not.

Under The Weather

I've been through my first round of meds, and still not getting much better. At least the sore throat is gone and I'm left with a confused nose, stuffy awhile and runny another. And coughing kept me awake the whole of last night.

Least, boss was kind and let me rest at home today. And I got my second round of meds, drowsy cough syrup yums, and yay to sleep tonight hopefully!

Times when I am sick like this, I fantasize having someone cook me porridge, and give me a head massage. But I fared quite well on my own, with xiuyuk rice for dinner and a complimentary massage chair use for 30mins.

Mike Perry - Inside the Lines ft. Casso

Worried sky
In need of something green to sleep at night

Aiming high,
We're living restless, but it's you and I

But my cough syrup is kinda brown.

Don't Wanna Cry

SEVENTEEN - 울고 싶지 않아

This, I first heard on Spotify and added onto my playlist. It gives me the same vibe as Chainsmokers's Closer.

I first saw Seventeen on one episode of Running Man and it didn't really leave much of an impression.

Anyhow, I was doing a bit of random browsing on youtube and found that they did the 2x faster version on Weekly Idol and I am impressed!

Just Wanted To Get It Out There

I've been saying this a lot to my peers and to those who asked if I don't ever get lonely. The truth is, of course there are times I feel like it would be nice to have someone to cuddle with, to share moments in life with. But at the same time, I don't think it necessary.

I like being on my own, I like the fact that I can do what I want to do, when I want to do, and how I want to do.

So yes.

Where Do You Draw The Line?

"I don't like you, but I think I am attracted to you..." But precisely.

Yesterday, someone said to me, "You look like you really enjoy the job." I was a little taken aback, what with all the recent negativity, but well, guess some things shine through regardless?

Today was spent working with some of the kids I really have come to like at my job here. I can't say that I'm a big influence, but I hope that whatever I do, it would positively affect them one way or another. Knowing that you made even the slightest difference, would really bring joy right?

Glad that things are looking up and in a couple of weeks it'll be my favorite day of the year, yay yay!

A little #throwback!

Fate Is A Funny Thing

Don't you think??

Okay, so I have been tinkering with the settings/layout on this blog here and there and I can't seem to like one thing enough to stick with it, nor do I have the patience to give it my full attention to tinker it properly. So be it.

Clean Bandit - Symphony feat. Zara Larsson

Spent the past 2 days attending a Coaching Conference. One of the major takeaway was this - Row The Boat analogy by P.J. Fleck.

Your back is to the future, you can't see what's coming ahead.
You decide what you do with your oars in the present.
The only thing you cannot change, but you can learn from is what you see (in the past).

How apt!

Product Review

You know how I most often end up reading random blogs? When I am in need to read up on reviews on products.

Today wasn't officially a work day for me, but I had important emails to write and send, which I did, on my off day. I am not complaining. So, writing on my blog about things completely irrelevant to work, I hope will help take my mind off work before I call it a day.

Here are two of my current favourite products in no particular order. Let's go!

Biore Cleansing Oil Cotton Facial Sheets Handy Pack

Travel/handy pack. Effective. Does not irritate skin. Pink packaging. Just wipe and throw.

On days where I actually put on makeup for work related functions, I usually get home really tired and in my head I am thinking "Why must I remove my make up before I sleep?" And then I think, "Thank God for this". It usually retails at SGD 3.90 if I am not wrong, but I just bought a pack from SaSa and it was discounted to SGD 2.90.

Salonpas from Hisamitsu

Doesn't smell as strong as other pain relieving stuff. Pink packaging. Convenient mini packs inside. Painless removal. Small patches suitable for just about any areas on the body.

I don't usually use pain relieve patches, unless when I am really in pain or when I know I need to recover overnight. And this is glorious. Works miracles overnight.

Alright! Bed time!

Who That Pretty Frowny Girl

Internet is sucky today. I can't even stream Spotify properly on my computer. And that usually makes me an angry girl.

However, I've been grumbling and angry so often lately that I've decided to skip being angry today. Also, it's my off day. So at the very least, I'm going to do my best to not be affected by things as much.

That said, I cannot, CANNOT and will not stand people who push me around for no apparent reason. So for this category of people, they are not spared from my fury today.

Ten Feet Tall

The thing about trying to appear chirpy, sunny and positive all the time is that, when you do get tired of being cheerful, it becomes very obvious, to everyone.

Afrojack - Ten Feet Tall (Lyric Video) ft. Wrabel

Maybe I really just am. Grossly tired. That I can't even mock playing happy anymore.

People should get used to me being un-chirpy, unhappy and negative. Because I am tired of answering to "Are you okay?"

Obviously, I am not.

The Fashionista In Me

Hello hello! I know, I've not been very dedicated as of late, but if you're reading this, thank you for not giving up on us (me and this place of expression of mine)!

So, the main reason I am back and posting today is to share about this one fashion item I have come to own, which is likely the most expensive item I've ever owned by far.

Ahem. It was a gift from my most favourite Uncle in the world - and it's for my birthday in June, but y'know, delayed gratification is not really my thing.

So, moving on, let me share with you my first attempt at being a high end fashionista wannabe with my #ootd from yesterday!

Fossil Madness

No, I am not saying that I want to go out and get a new Fossil, I already own one - a gift to be specific.

I hate(d) having to adjust the dial because I could never, ever, ever get it right. And that happened this morning too. Until the tip of my fingers were sore did I finally decide to just google it. Why I didn't think of doing so earlier escapes me.

But anyway, this guide by Mademan saved the day, so if you own a Fossil and have the same problem as I do, don't fret, here's the dummy guide. Works!

Friends Who Bite

Or more commonly, friends who stab. Nonetheless, I personally think friends who bite are a milder version of friends who stab.

It's like the milder version of friends who talk about you behind your back (a.k.a back-stabbers), except that friends who bite are those who deliberately talk in front of you hoping to get a reaction out of it. That's the difference,

I really don't know why friends would do that, but I guess friends like that do exist.

This makes me feel ultra grateful for all my friends who just love unconditionally and are honest with you, not with the intention to hurt, but with the intention for you to improve.

So today's #thankyou post goes to all the good type of friends. /heart

Feeling tired but going to bed feeling light because I know He is in control of it all and that my battles are not mine to fight alone.

Beautiful - 크러쉬 (Crush)

Just immensely grateful for having a roof over my head, food to eat when I am hungry and clean water to drink. #thankYou

#thankYou 3.0

This morning, I had a real life crisis. I had left home early, thinking to catch the bus to work instead of taking the train so that I could catch an additional hour worth of shut eye while seated in the bus.

As soon as I got to the bus stand near my place, my stomach started churning and I instantly knew it was not a good sign. I contemplated going back upstairs to my house to use the toilet, but, on second thoughts, I figured my housemate would be in the loo when I get back upstairs, so I decided to risk it and take the bus to the interchange and then use the loo there instead.

So the bus came, I boarded and I don't ever recall every single traffic light being red, ever.

I was THIS close to pooping in my pants. For real. When I finally got to the interchange, toilet it was.

So today on grateful list..

I thank God for answering my non-stop prayers to get the bus to the interchange before shit happens (pun intended).

I thank God for the Uncle who very sweetly pointed out to me that my bag's zipper was undone.

And I thank God for my housemate who left me with a ripe avocado to snack on. It was delish!

Claiming my 0.5 off day tomorrow to rest up, which means, I get to watch some drama before bedtime..

Woohoo, night! xx

#thankYou 2.0

Thankful for a gym buddy, for discounted Kettle Chips, for learning new things.

Tired, farting ridiculously smelly farts, sunburnt, and still need to study some or I'm going to Korean class tomorrow clueless.

#thankYou

First day of work, in 2017, was trying.

With multiple factors beyond my control.

Was I upset? I was. Did I get angry? I did. Did I deserve to be angry? I do think so. Did I feel wronged and taken advantaged of? Yup, all applies.

Nonetheless, am glad  my day is coming to an end, and now that I've had some time to reflect on how my day panned out, I'll just be grateful for the good bits of Day 1 of my 2017 work year.

I am grateful for the following:

1 - The people who showed up and pulled their weight (more than they needed to), I thank God for each of them dearly.

2 - That I had my windbreaker stored at my workplace and didn't have to freeze in the downpour.

3 - That I can afford a Starbucks drink to cheer myself up, and be a lucky recipient of a free tall drink (provided I complete their customer survey, which I have gladly done).

God works in the most amazing ways, if only you let Him. #thankYou

2017 Resolution

Let my default response to difficult, challenging times be to let God take control.

I am the LORD, the God of all mankind. Is anything too hard for me?
Jeremiah 32:27 (NIV)

And in happy and joyous occasions, to remain humble, grateful and to thank God for it all.

Happy New Year!
